Magna Clip™ is a compact magnetic bin-lid attachment being developed by LESS to help prevent wheelie bin lids from opening unintentionally due to wind, weather and everyday conditions.
Designed to work quietly in the background, Magna Clip™ aims to help reduce escaped household litter while allowing bins to continue functioning normally during collection.
The Problem
WHEN BIN LIDS ARE CLOSED, RUBBISH DOESN’T ALWAYS STAY PUT.
Wind, overflowing bins and changing weather conditions can cause lightweight rubbish to escape onto streets, parks and surrounding environments.
Once litter enters gutters and stormwater systems, it can travel beyond the place it was originally dropped.
Magna Clip™ is being developed around a simple idea: preventing litter at the bin is easier than collecting it after it escapes.

Magna Clip™ is currently in Stage 1 professional design development, with physical prototyping and real-world testing planned as the next stages of the project.
LESS is exploring opportunities to test the concept through a community pilot, gathering practical feedback and measuring how the product performs in everyday conditions.
