MAGNA CLIP™ STAGE 1 DEVELOPMENT IS UNDERWAY
Turning an idea into something that can be built, tested and improved.
Aug 19, 2026
There comes a point in developing an idea where thinking about how something could work has to become figuring out how it actually might.
For Magna Clip™, that point has arrived.
From concept to development
After defining the problem Magna Clip™ is intended to address and establishing the basic principles behind the concept, the next step was to begin translating that idea into a design suitable for physical prototyping and testing.
In August 2026, Stage 1 professional design development for Magna Clip™ was commissioned.
This stage focuses on taking the concept from an early idea and developing it into a more considered design that can eventually be manufactured as a prototype.
It means looking beyond the overall idea and beginning to work through the practical questions that determine whether a product can actually function in the real world.
Why this stage matters
A concept can make perfect sense in your head and still behave very differently once it exists as a physical object.
That is why prototyping matters.
The goal of Stage 1 isn’t to pretend the first version will be perfect.
It is to create something that can be tested, questioned and improved.
Magna Clip™ is being developed around a few important principles:
it should remain simple
it should work with ordinary household wheelie bins rather than requiring an entirely new bin
everyday use should require as little additional effort as possible
the normal waste collection process still needs to function
the design should ultimately be practical enough for real-world testing
Those principles will continue to guide the project as the design evolves.
Learning before assuming
One of the most important parts of developing Magna Clip™ will be allowing testing to influence the design.
There will inevitably be things that work as expected, things that need refinement and perhaps things we haven’t anticipated yet.
That isn’t a failure of the development process.
That is the development process.
Rather than deciding in advance that the idea works, the aim is to build, test, observe and improve.
Protecting the work while sharing the journey
As Magna Clip™ moves further into development, some technical details will remain behind the scenes.
Dimensions, CAD files, component specifications and other design information form part of the project’s private development and intellectual property records.
These updates will instead document the broader journey — the milestones, decisions, testing and lessons that move Magna Clip™ forward.
What’s next
Stage 1 is now underway.
Once this development stage is complete, the project can begin moving towards one of its most exciting milestones yet:
The first physical Magna Clip™ prototype.
That will be the point where the idea we’ve been developing on paper can finally begin meeting the real world.
